Here are some frequently asked questions. Please feel free to use this as a reference.
You are not saved just by becoming a member. It is necessary to grasp the workings behind happiness from the teachings of Kami and incorporate them into your way of life while offering kigan. As you strive to put it into practice, your kokoro (heart) will first change. And the surrounding environment around you will continue to improve. You can enjoy Kami’s protection and salvation.
The teachings of Shinji Kyōkai are meant to refine one’s character. Rather than living inwardly, bound by dogmas and precepts, we aim to practice a kokoro of love in the social environment in which we each live. Therefore, there are no rules or religious observances that place restrictions on our lives. You can expand your field of activity to the outside world and use your best qualities to help many people.
What we learn at Shinji Kyōkai is not knowledge but wisdom. It is not something to be memorized or difficult to understand, but it is something that becomes who you are. If you feel that you do not understand the information, please feel free to ask a staff member through the personal consultations.
We will never force you to make money, such as donations. After registering as a member, you will be asked to pay annual membership dues (9,600 yen per year; 6,000 yen for those under 15 years old), with a wish for a peaceful year. This money will be used to maintain our environment, such as classrooms, teaching materials, and the operation and maintenance of each facility. Please be assured that you will not be required to pay anything other than church fees.
There are no additional costs for various classes and events, consultation, and the required teaching material called Yūwa (a triannual handout booklet). An offering is required for all ceremonies, except for some. In addition, we ask that you receive a new goshintai (charms) every year. Depending on the types of goshintai, you will be required to pay a set offering amount. Other items that you purchase individually, such as household altar items, church books, calendars, and stationery, will incur additional costs.
