Anjukyo— it is set up to serve as a medium for conveying our thoughts to the deceased and our ancestors through Shinkon.
Shinwaku is a tablet inscribed with Shinshi—a name bestowed by Kami upon the deceased or ancestors in the spiritual world. Tablets inscribed with “Souls of All Ancestors” are also available. Enshrine the tablet in anjukyo (altar dedicated for the deceased and ancestors) and speak to it morning and evening.
As a general rule, place the anjukyo at a lower level than the
goshinkyo; if placing them side-by-side, position the anjukyo
to the left side of goshinkyo.
Offerings such as water, light, and fresh flowers should be made, with the water
replaced every morning. You may also make offerings when you buy something
Wipe the wood clean daily using a dedicated cloth. For the shinwaku
(tablet), simply dust it off.
*Before welcoming the New Year, please thoroughly clean the anjukyo
along with the goshinkyo.
