There are three types to goshintai. To ensure a peaceful and secure year ahead, we receive goshintai—in which the spirit of Kami resides—at the start of each new year; we return goshintai from the previous year to have it purified.
This goshintai is to be enshrined in goshinkyo (household altar), where the family offers kigan every morning and evening, seeking to forge a strong connection along the Kokoro no Michi. Shinjitsu no Michi is achieved by manifesting Kibō no Michi daily in your life. To signify the pursuit of true happiness and prosperity, the words, “Shinjitsu no Michi” is written on this goshintai.
This is a goshintai carried by each individual, allowing one to offer kigan and seek divine protection for the movements of the kokoro—anytime, anywhere. The words, “Kokoro no Michi”, signifying the guidance of the kokoro by Kami.
This is a goshintai to be enshrined in vehicles or vessels. The words, “Kibō no Michi-Traffic Safety” is written signifying the receipt of divine protection and the safeguarding of one's journey while driving a car or other vessels through a calm kokoro achieved by manifesting Kibō no Michi.
The Seikon no Gi is a ceremony in which the messenger, wielding the power of Kami, imbues the goshintai for the coming year with the divine Spirit. Shared spirit of Kami is instilled to protect each individual foreseeing the events of the year ahead, ensuring that everyone can lead a truly happy life.
The Seirei no Gi is a ceremony in which the messenger, wielding the power of Kami, performs a rite to withdraw the divine Spirit from goshintai returned from the previous year. At the same time, the kigan and sentiments invested in it by each individual are released, and their hearts are purified. This allows us to begin the new year with a clean slate, unencumbered by lingering attachments, while also elevating the jittai.
